Katy Perry Asked to Pay up for Super Bowl Performance

Katy Perry will perform at this year's super bowl half time show. The half time show, which has become one of the most talked about performances of the year, has catapulted stars into overnight sensations, increasing tours and introducing them to a whole new fan base. Now, the NFL is requiring performers to pay for a chance to appear on the half time show. Will Katy Perry pay for a chance to perform? The star singer had a few words of her own to tell the NFL.

The NFL requested Katy Perry to perform at this year's Super Bowl in Oklahoma. The NFL had requested Katy, Rihanna and Coldplay to perform, but as it stands, all eyes will be on Katy Perry at half time. The NFL later followed up the request with another one, this time a financial one. The NFL requested Katy Perry to make a "financial contribution" to the league.

The request by the NFL follows months of deliberation by the league on whether artists should be allowed to perform for free at the half time show. The Super Bowl is already the most watched television show in the United States. Last year, the show hit a record 111.5 million audience, becoming the most viewed program in U.S history. The NFL opines that the exposure is worth it.

Katy Perry, while on appearance on Saturday on ESPN's "College Game Day,' had a n opportunity to address the financial issue, clearly stating that she would not pay up. "I'm not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl," Perry said.

The pop star would make a great performer for the show. She is a pop singer who's music is family friendly. She would easily pass for a mid game family performance, in comparison to other pop singers like Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus. The NFL could benefit from such a performer, considering the scandals the NFL has been facing recently concerning its players, think assault, domestic violence and child abuse.
