Gourmet Food in the Workplace: One more Reason to Work at Google and Apple

Tech companies have been pampering their employees lately with the enviable gourmet quality meals offered in their staff cafeterias. Perhaps, that old saying could be rephrased as the best way to your employees' heart and productivity is through their stomach. Checking out some of these companies' lunch time perks would surely make one green with envy and question their career choice.

Apple

Tech giant Apple's Caffe Mac makes it possible for its employee to have a daily gourmet experience according to Jessica Haworth's Mirror article. Its delicious menu includes the well-loved seared tuna, specially crafted sushi and even oysters. The café has an experimental flair, with its ever-changing menu sometimes including paella, steak, prawns and an interestingly named 'bloody mary salad.'

To top the delicious menu, lunch and dinner are mostly free or at least partially shouldered by the company's $12 dollar for dinner allotted for software engineers, according to DailyMail.

Google

Google employees are a bit pampered to say the least. At Google's New York office, they get to dine at Hemispheres, a café for employees which serves three meals a day plus snacks which offers a great view of the city.

The place is known for high-quality, delicious meals and snacks for all its hardworking employees. Hemispheres' fine dining reputation has reached the outside world that Google employees often find themselves the enviable position of having to field requests from friends who want to drop by for lunch as their guests.

But probably the best part of it all is that all those delectable treats are free, part of Google generous employee perks that include free massages and free gym membership according to a Daily Mail article.

Boasting of three entrée stations, a Fro Yo machine, a burger station and a salad bar, one visitor can't help but comment "if you even want to be depressed about your job, just visit a friend at Google's Cafeteria."
