Put your Phones Down and Get Free Food from Chick-fil-A!

Is your family the kind that eats together, but not really? The greatest irony of technology and its benefits to communication is that it really brings you closer to your loved ones far from you, but pulls you away from the people around you. Because we are constantly on our phones, tablets and other gadgets, real-face-to-face conversation is hardly done, and that is what Chick-Fil-A is trying to change.

Chick-Fil-A is challenging you and your family to do the "Chick-Fil-A Family Challenge"- a dare that asks the customers to put their mobile phones on silent and put them on the Cell Phone Coop, a box placed on each table. And the prize, you might ask? Free Food.

Brad Williams, a Chick-Fil-A operator in Suwanee, Georgia was the one who proposed the brilliant idea.

"We really want our restaurant to provide a sense of community for our customers, where family and friends can come together and share quality time with one another," Williams said in a statement. "As we all know, technology increasingly demands more of our time and can be a big distraction, even while we're eating. This got me thinking about what we could do to reduce this distraction during meals."

That's right. Just resist checking on your phone and engage in an actual conversation with your family and each of you will be served free ice cream cones. That's silent-coop-talk-free food!

Over 100 branches are participating in this promotional act with a cause, Chick-Fil-A executives confirm.

Chick-Fil-A is also known for its generosity through its advertisement tactics. Last summer, people who dressed like a cow got free food.

CNBC reports that the fast food chain is not the first to offer incentives for customers to ditch their devices. Restaurants nationwide have given discounts to consumers who pledge to go cellphone free during their meal.
