Brie Larson Net Worth Soars: How Diet and Isolation Helped 'Room' Star Bag 2016 Oscars for Best Actress

Her hectic days of shooting "Room" finally pay off. Brie Larsen, who received her first Oscar for Best Actress in the 88th annual Academy Awards 2016, thanked her co-worker, 8-year-old, Jacob Tremblay and all the crew she's worked with. She also made a sweet shoutout to her real partner, Alex Greenwald.

Her portrayal as a woman in isolation was an exhausting role to play. "I was on this restrictive diet with the help of a nutritionist," she told CBS News. Larson had to work with a trainer and consult with trauma counselor every day to get that exact mood and aspects of a woman being confined in a small room for 7 years. She did a research on how living in silent and dim space, 10-foot by 10-foot, for so long could have affected a person's behavior.

The scenes, which she recalled as emotional marathon had drained her literally. Discussing with her nutritionist, she tried to achieve the body mass of a woman who stayed out of the natural light for months. Vitamin deficiencies and getting skinny - she made herself lose weight up to 12% of body fat with the help of a trainer.

Larson even had to warn her family that she could be very sensitive during the filming process. "When  you're playing this person 12 hours a day, your waking life is this character," she explains to Variety how the character could wire up to her brain at some point.

Room is a drama film adapted from a novel, of a woman and her son who live in a small space as captives. The story of an incredible love between mother and child is told through the 5-year-old boy perspective but focuses on his mother.
