Double Bacon Cheeseburger Breaks Girl's Heart: Man Changes Name to Fave Snack

After a drunken night out with friends, UK native Sam Smith decides to change his name to Double Bacon Cheeseburger.

"It was the culmination of probably too many drinks in the pub where there was a conversation about names," he explained. A report from Foxnews.com indicates that Double Bacon Cheeseburger was the first name to come up because he was a big fan of Burger and he has "no regrets at all."

In an exclusive interview with Evening Standard, Smith was convinced to go ahead with the change after being coaxed by friends.

"It was largely the most ridiculous thing we could think of. My friends were quite supportive of anything that makes me look silly, as good friends are," he said. So much so, in fact, that when the UK Deed Poll service sent him the papers to make the change legal, said friends were around when he affixed his signature on the documents.

The 33-year-old, who works as a gas consultant, said he is enjoying the effects of this change especially when he books rooms and flights.

"I spend a lot of time in the Far East and the people out there wouldn't know that Bacon isn't a standard British name. But in Europe, people think it's pretty weird," Smith revealed. He said he also enjoys ends his emails with "B D Cheeseburger".

It is not surprising that there have been mixed reactions from the people he knows. For instance, his father admits that he finds the whole thing hilarious and is willing to use his son's new name. His mother, however, is naturally furious. Another person who isn't so welcoming of Smith's first name is his fiancé, Isabella.

"My fiancée is fairly reluctant about marrying a cheeseburger. That's something we're discussing a lot. No girl ever dreams of spending her big day marrying a man called Bacon," Smith revealed.
