Velvet Crème Invades Miami: No More Wasted Snacks With Frozen Doughnuts

For all the doughnut lovers across the country, especially those who buy it in dozens, the storage of doughnuts becomes a headache. Often it happens that due to storage issues, people are forced to buy one doughnut at a time.

However, with the latest addition of Velvet Crème, it seems that the future will change.

"We're an iconic doughnut shop," says Robert Taylor, one of the founding partners. "And now we're doing an iconic thing."

Starting from February 25, doughnut lovers will be able to get their fix at any Miami-Dade County BJ's Wholesale Club location. Velvet Creme doughnuts will be available on shelves for two weeks, with the possibility of renewal.

"This is a true trial run for us," Taylor says, according to Miami New Times. "They've never carried a frozen doughnut line. So if this works out, we want to go all the way up the East Coast."

Though the brand plans to open a store this summer in Miami, still Taylor says that they wanted to get the doughnuts in the hands of the customers first.

"It's going to be successful because now you don't have to eat them all at once," he says. "Big-box stores sell 12 to 18 doughnuts in a pack, but most people don't want or need all of them, which means they get wasted."

According to Taylor, the frosting of doughnuts is simple. All one needs to do is fry the doughnuts, drain the excess oil and glazed and flesh - frozen for distribution.

"They don't sit around for a while before they're frozen," he says. "We're not freezing doughnuts you see in the shop's window. They're flash-frozen right away and stay really fresh once they're defrosted."

Moreover, when one buys the doughnuts, they can defrost them all one by one. All one needs to do is leave them on a countertop for two to three hours, and it will be ready.
