Melissa Rivers to sue Manhattan Clinic That Operated on Joan Rivers

Melissa Rivers, Joan Rivers' only child, is planning a lawsuit against the hospital that operated on her mother. Joan Rivers passed away tragically during an endoscopy. She was 81 years old at her death.

Reports indicate a lot of negligence on the part of the Manhattan clinic. The Clinic, it is said, did not take adequate steps in ensuring the safety of high profile celebrity Joan Rivers. Joan Rivers went to the Manhattan clinic for a routine checkup on August 28. During the check up, the celebrated star underwent a cardiac arrest and lost consciousness. The star was declared dead a week later.

Reports emerging indicate that Joan Rivers had an endoscopy and biopsy done on her. The star was operated on by an ear, nose and throat specialist Dr. Gwen Korovin. The specialist doctor was not licensed to operate in that hospital. It is also reported that Joan Rivers only consented to an endoscopy. The biopsy that was done on her, she did not consent to.

Dr. Gwen Korovin, it is reported, even went ahead and took  a selfie in the room with an unconscious Joan Rivers. The doctor has since denied the existence of the selfie. She also denied a biopsy was performed.

Melissa Rivers has called the doctor spineless, especially after she was nowhere to be seen when the Fashion Police star was dying. A source close to the daughter stated that Melissa was disappointed in the whole clinic, which was trusted to take care of her mother but failed grossly.

Dr. Gwen Korovin and Dr, Lawrence Cohen, the doctor who performed the endoscopy, have both lawyered up, pending what analysts say is a suit that could last three years and could lead to an award for millions of dollars for Melissa Rivers.

Dr. Lawrence Cohen has since stepped down from the helm of the Yolkville clinic.
