Lea Salonga Disney: The Singing Voice of Aladdin’s Jasmine Goes Viral! [VIDEO]

Lea Salonga, of Disney fame, is now on a tour with operatic pop vocal group Il Divo - and while they perform together, one of the acts includes Lea Salonga's Disney ventures, as they sing together the now-classic song 'A Whole New World.'

Even if fans of the movie aren't too sure who the actress and singer is, Lea Salonga's Disney voice can be recognized by anyone who ever grew up with Disney films in the 90s - not only was she Jasmine's singing voice in Aladdin, but she also provided vocals for another one of Disney's women: Mulan. Lea Salonga and Disney go a long way, especially when we consider Aladdin was released in 1992 - if it were a person, by now the movie Aladdin would be legally allowed to drink!

Salonga has gone on to become a well-noted theater performer, playing the lead role of Kim in the musical Miss Saigon, for which she won the Olivier, Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics and Theatre World award.

Salonga is one of Philippines' most recognized artists, the first Filipina singer to have signed for an international recording label (Atlantic Records, in 1993) and later the first singer from the Pacific island country to have received a major album release in the United States. Not only that, she's one of the best-selling Filipino artists of all time, after selling over five million copies of her albums in the world market.

Also, she was the first Asian actress to have performed the roles of éponine and Fantine in Broadway's Les Misérables - the later role was the one that got Anne Hathaway her Oscar, after her heart-wrenching rendition of 'I Dreamed a Dream.'

These days, Salonga tours with the Simon Cowell-created pop opera band Il Divo - and they don't doubt to take the talented singer's hits to the stage!

Lea Salonga's Disney pipes are more than well kept these days - you can listen to her chilling rendition of 'A Whole New World,' the song that made her famous below!
