Dunkin Donuts Menu Goes Caged Egg-Free, But Full Switch Won’t Come Until 2025

As citizens all over the world become increasingly aware of what they eat and how, restaurant chains have had to accommodate to the higher demand of healthier products, from GMO-free items to eliminating animals fed with antibiotics from their offerings, and execs have just announced that the Dunkin Donuts menu has just announced it'll be taking a step in the right direction.

There's a growing trend among restaurant chains as well as food companies to be perceived as "healthier, more socially responsible, or better for the environment," as Fortune puts it, and the decision to have the Dunkin Donuts menu fully eliminating caged eggs comes from that very place.

One of the largest breakfast and coffee chains in the world has just announced they'll spend the next decade phasing out eggs coming from caged chickens from the Dunkin Donuts menu, though so far the change will only occur in their United States locations, although Dunkin also said they're currently reviewing the possibility of extending this practice to their locations around the world.

According to Market Place, just months after Starbucks' biggest competing chain announced their goal to serve 10 percent cage-free eggs by the end of 2016, they've taken another step forward in the subject to say that they'll be phasing out caged eggs completely from the Dunkin Donuts menu from now until 2025.

As CNBC reports, this sees the Dunkin Donuts menu following the steps of other breakfast-serving chains in the country like McDonald's and Taco Bell, who previously said they'd be taking eggs from caged animals out of their menu within the next few years.

According to Forbes, the change in the Dunkin Donuts menu comes as the chain partners up with the Humane Society of the United States, in a growing attempt to "help the egg industry eliminate the use of cages in our supply chain" for a more animal cruelty-free environment when it comes to the animals that feed the country.
