Uber Tests Color-Ride Pickups To Help Riders Identify The Right Car

Uber Technologies Inc. is now testing a color-ride pickups to prevent riders from getting into the wrong car.

The American International transportation network has just released its new innovation called as the SPOT technology. The new set of tools is said to offer solutions that will permit riders especially the Uber drivers to get in touch with each other via the use of colored lights.

The test was conducted in Seattle where Uber distributed some SPOT devices to selected drivers. The said devices which are actually color coded LED light were then fasten on each of the vehicle's windshield. Uber customers will then be asked to choose one of the six color choices when they appeal for a ride thru the use of the Uber app.

With the use of the SPOT lighting tool, the device will light up as the requested ride goes nearer to the customer. The user can then press the color on his or her smartphone as an indication. The driver will be able to recognize the customer as the correct pick up because of the color coding type of pairing.

On its new official blog, the American company posted that the new technology can offer a faster pick up time to the customers.

"When riders and drivers can easily find each other, we're able to trim down wait times, which is a win for everyone," Uber wrote.

The company believes that their new SPOT technology will be most useful in times of crowded events, especially when a huge group of Uber drivers are requested at a single time.

It can be remembered that the traditional method of identifying the customer's driver is by looking at the car's license plate number which is considered as a very tedious job.

Uber stated that SPOT technology is their latest research in the hope of making their service as seamless as possible.
