'The Walking Dead' Mid-Season Premiere: Will Negan Actually Be A Funny Guy? Who Could Die When The Show Returns? [SPOILERS]

It's still a long wait before 'The Walking Dead' reveals what happened to Rick and his group after Sam starting calling for his mother in the fall finale. Luckily, showrunner Scott M. Gimple confirmed a few details with The Hollywood Reporter, including how the show will feature more scenes taken from 'The Walking Dead' comic book series.

"There are a lot of direct moments from the comic coming up in the second half and panels that we're bringing to life - from very big comic moments to really tiny comic moments. Things that are not gigantic and dramatic but just little moments from the comic that all add up to some big moments," Gimple said before adding a hint on what to expect when the show returns next year.

"The second half is very cumulative. Within that, there is one of the weirdest episodes we've ever done because it's one of the amazingly enough more light-hearted episodes, which was terrifying on my side," he said.

Scott M. Gimple may have been talking about Negan having a twisted sense of humor in the comic book, as the villain enjoyed making jokes during unexpected occasions. However, Negan's comedic timing isn't the only aspect of 'The Walking Dead' comics that will be finding its way to the TV show.

[SPOILER AFTER THE VIDEO]

The 'Walking Dead' showrunner somehow confirmed that the scene showing Rick and the group trying to escape by walkers by covering themselves in zombie guts could lead to what happened in TWD Volume 14 'No Way Out.'

"It's quite deadly, sadly," Gimple admitted. "There is some death going on in that but it's also unbelievably intense. It's one of the most intense episodes we've done."

Just how intense can it get? In 'No Way Out,' Rick, Carl, Jessie and Ron cover themselves in zombie guts to escape the walkers. However, Ron panics and gets bitten, which causes Jessie to panic as well. Unfortunately, Jessie refuses to let go of Carl despite being attacked by the walkers so Rick decides to chop off her hand so his son can escape.

What will happen in the mid-season premiere? Find out when 'The Walking Dead' Season Six returns to AMC on February 14.
