Nicki Minaj's LaGuardia High School has forbidden the star from speaking to the current students at her alma mater, the 'Anaconda' singer tweeted last Thursday. She said she had asked the new principal if she could speak to the new students, wanting to inspire them; but she was rebuffed by the school's administration.
According to Nicki Minaj, LaGuardia High School "changed her life", because it was the first time the singer felt like she fit in somewhere. The New York City school is famous for its notable students, such as Morena Baccarin, Laurence Fishburne, Jennifer Aniston and Academy Award-winning actor Adrien Brody. The school is such a cultural icon that its classes and lifestyle inspired the popular musical 'Fame'.
The singer's former place of study didn't give much explanation as to why they had declined her offer to speak to the current class at some point. Nicki Minaj's LaGuardia High School accepts students based on auditions in four different areas: Dance, Drama, Instrumental Music and Vocal Music; and it is one of the hardest schools to get into in New York.
The news came as a blow to the popular rapper, who went on a Twitter rant about it, complaining she was probably not "good enough" to talk to the current students of the different programs of the famous high school.
It is not the first time the singer has expressed her affection for her alma mater. Last year, Nicki Minaj's LaGuardia High School experience came to the floor during an interview with Teen Vogue, in which she told the magazine that the place's creative energy had provided her with the feeling for the first time that there wasn't "something weird" about her.
Nicki Minaj's LaGuardia High School saw her graduate in the class of 2000. She has later become a popular rapper; the video of her new hit song 'Anaconda' features her doing heavy twerking and lap dancing.
