Coke to Bring Back Ecto Cooler?

The Coca-Cola Company could be bringing back the famed Ecto Cooler.

While many beverage companies have tried getting into the nostalgia game, not many prove to be successful. However, there are some re-introductions which could set forth another ground-breaking record, and this includes the possible comeback of the Hi-C flavor called the Ecto Cooler, according to The Inquisitr.

News of the Ecto Cooler revival comes with the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot  next year. Since merchandise, toys, and the likes are sure to appear, the popular Ecto Cooler could also make a comeback.

According to Proton Charging  Coca-Cola has filed for a renewal of the Ecto Cooler trademark back in September 15. While this doesn't necessarily mean the return of the Ecto Cooler, fans have speculated a comeback, and for good reason.

The Ecto Cooler was first introduced in 1987 as a tie-in to the original "Ghostbusters" movie as well as the animated series "The Real Ghostbusters," which aired from 1986 to 1991. The face of the drink, none other than the clumsy yet lovable green ghost Slimer.

Ecto Cooler was a Hi-C flavor tasting of citrus, sweetness and tartness all blended together. In addition, the drink's awesome color is neon green, much like Slimer.

Even though the famous drink left shelves in 2007, fans never forgot, and in 2011, different recipes made by fans of the drink started popping up.

It may be safe to say that the Ecto Cooler wasn't just a fad since it was sold in stores until 2001, a full 12 years since the theater release of "Ghostbusters II."

Now with the "Ghostbusters" Ghostbusters reboot hitting theaters July 15, 2016, it's highly likely that Coca-Cola will be bringing back the Ecto Cooler.

According to CNBC, Coke isn't the only beverage company playing on the nostalgia market. Competitor Pepsi reportedly hinted at the return of Crystal Pepsi in June in honor of "Back to the Future's" anniversary.
