McDonald's restaurants are among the most recognizable American brand in the world. McDonald's has successfully exported its fast food brand to a lot of countries in Asia, Latin America, Africa and Europe.

Most of the McDonald's fast food restaurants have the same golden arches proudly placed above, around and inside the restaurant. In any country the McDonald's you see is basically the same, whether it's in the United States or the Philippines.

But there a number of McDonald's restaurant that does not conform to the standard design but instead has adapted to the unique architecture of the local area or structure. The Richest posted a number of these unique fast food sites. Here are some of them.

New York, U.S.A. - Even in the United States, there is one particular McDonald restaurant that has a unique design. Located in Hyde Park is a McDonald restaurant inside a colonial mansion. Considered as a national landmark, the people at McDonald decided to build their restaurant using the colonial theme of the building.

Lake Taupo, New Zealand - The land of the Kiwis do offer a lot of breathtaking sites for tourists. For Americans feeling homesick, there is a McDonald restaurant located very near the famous Lake Taupo. This particular restaurant offers it patrons a chance to eat inside a DC-3 plane parked permanently beside the restaurant. Make sure you eat during the day time hours since that is only the time when eating inside the plane is allowed.

Madrid, Spain - This Spanish McDonald restaurant is housed inside the historical Grand Via. This is probably the most elegant McDonald yet. This fast food restaurant has chandeliers and marble floors. The menu too are unique and not your typical American fast food fare. They serve beer! The coffees they serve are contained in real coffee cups. According to Richest, food critics are claiming that the burger meat seems to be made of real beef.
