New York St. Patrick's Day Parade made a ban on gays to not attend the event with signs or anything that would identify them as a group. Now, the prohibition has been lifted.
For several years, The New York St. Patrick's Day Parade has been a very important event, as all of New York gets together to celebrate it and walk the streets. What made no sense, whatsoever, is that New York St. Patrick's Day Parade would hold a Ban on gays. If it is an event attended and open to anyone, then why isn't it really open to everyone?
It was a paradox and an irony that bothered too many people for too long. It even created problems with brands such as Guinness beer, who are the main sponsors of the event. They considered that it made no sense to have a ban and also, it cost them a large part of the main attendants.
Basically, they stated that they would leave the event due to the New York St. Patrick's Day Parade Ban On Gays. They would not tolerate the exclusion, just like the organizers of the Parade would not tolerate any gay people attending. They even said, "Guinness has a strong history of supporting diversity and being an advocate for equality for all." This was said last year as a speech to leave and the response was given this last week.
The New York St. Patrick's Day Parade Ban On Gays has disappeared. The truth is that Guinness being the main sponsors; it is needed for them to be there and to promote the event. Also, many participants of the Organization did not agree. For example, the speaker of the City Council had been fighting for the rights of Gays and the lifting of the ban for years.
Finally, The New York St. Patrick's Day Parade Ban On Gays has been lifted and everyone can truthfully attend.
