It's been a while since Marvel fans heard any news about the planned 'Iron Fist' TV series, and it has certainly come to a point where people are wondering if the Netflix show has been cancelled.
The most recent update about Danny Rand's TV series is that it has been scrapped to make way for a full-length 'Iron Fist' movie and that Jon Bernthal's The Punisher will be the one given his own TV show. This would mean that Frank Castle would round off the 'Defenders' miniseries that already features Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.
However, it turns out that the 'Iron Fist' film is just a rumor. Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb has just admitted to CBR that they may have been quiet, but that doesn't mean they have forgotten about 'Iron Fist.'
"There was a lot of speculation about what was going on with 'Iron Fist,' because [fans] hadn't heard anything about it, but there's never been any change at all," Loeb confirmed.
This certainly sounds like the plan is still to work on a Netflix TV series for Danny Rand, and not the aforementioned motion picture. Jeph Loeb also explained why there hasn't been any news about 'Iron Fist' for a long time.
"We knew exactly what we were doing at Marvel and at Netflix. Let's get ['Jessica Jones'] out there, everybody knows that 'Luke Cage' is up and going," he said. "What I can say right now is we're very excited about 'Iron Fist.'"
In addition to that, the Marvel TV chief confirmed fans will be hearing more casting announcements and news about the 'Iron Fist' TV show really soon.
"The short answer is, 'Yes, there'll be news,'" Loeb said.
Watch out for more 'Iron Fist' news after 'Luke Cage' is released on Netflix in April 2016.
