Vin Diesel has revealed the upcoming television spinoff of the Riddick series including a new movie sequel. The actor took to his social media account to reveal the good news.

Last year, the 'Furious 7' star hinted at the coming of a new chapter of the movie franchise. The 48-year-old actor has finally confirmed the news by posting a photo on his Instagram account and announcing the plans for a Riddick series sequel and a TV spinoff.

"Last night our company had a party to launch our TV division," the actor wrote. "MERC CITY is a show that will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe. Next Month, DT begins writing the next Chapter in the Chronicles of Riddick... FURIA," Diesel added.

As revealed by 'The Last Witch Hunter' lead star, the upcoming film will likely be titled 'Furia' which is the home planet of Riddick's people. The makers of the said film will start writing the scripts next month.

The coming movie sequel will disclose the secrets behind Riddick's past which was hidden from the previous movies. Though the Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick which were both starred by Vin Diesel earned only $98 million worldwide, the new installment is expected to be more successful than the previous ones.

The three movies in the Riddick series including the 2013 film garnered a total earnings of $267 million worldwide. With the established reputation of the movie series, the aforementioned sequel promises a bigger income.

Meanwhile, Vin Diesel is receiving a lot of huge projects lately. Recently, the Hollywood actor has announced the coming of Fast and Furious 8 which is expected to be a box office hit just like the previous installments. The 'Guardians of the Galaxy' star has also unveiled the return of the 'xXx' franchise.

According to Forbes, Vin Diesel has a net worth of $47 million.
