Food Trucks in Salem to Feed the Needy on Thanksgiving

A popular food truck in Salem, Massachusetts called The Laughing Lunchbox along with others in the area shows some love by collaborating in bringing in the spirit of charitable work on Thursday's Thanksgiving celebration. 

Behind the effort is Sarah Carpenter, owner of The Laughing Lunchbox. She brought together Salem- area food trucks and other volunteers by creating the "Feed the Need" campaign, to extend help in feeding the needy on Thanksgiving Day at downtown Salem. 

Among the volunteers are Chad's Smokin BBQ, Outlaw Grill, Oregon Crepe Cafe and Bakery, Waffle Works, Etc., The Salem Food Truck Association, JT's Food Truck, Island Girl's Lunchbox, Coffee in Motion, Big Dave's Sample This Barbecue and Catering, The Divine Bean, Cacioppo's, Rob Melton. These food trucks will go around downtown Salem area at 9 a.m. to give joy to 150 people by giving out free food on Thanksgiving morning.

According to Statesman Journal, they are to offer full to-go meals including hot turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, fresh baked rolls, pies, water, beverages and a toiletry kit. They are also calling in for volunteers who can donate pies also to be given out. Pie donations will be accepted on Wednesday, Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Laughing Lunchbox food truck that will be parked at 2345 Turner Road.

The location that the food trucks will be serving on Thanksgiving Day will be announced in a flyer via The Salvation Army, Union Gospel Mission, Simonka Women's Shelter, Jason Lee, Salem Interfaith Hospitality Network, and to be distributed around downtown Salem.

The Laughing Lunchbox is a mobile business in Salem known for its vegan sandwich which is served daily. They have made extraordinary efforts to offer genuine vegan options to their customers. They can often be found at the f/Stop Fitzgerald's Public House.
