Jared Fogle: Subway spokesman Sentenced To 15 Years and 8 Months For Child Porn and Sex Crime Charges

Jared Fogleis finally getting what he deserves. The former face of Subway, was sentenced to 15 years and 8 months even though his attorney’s attempted to lower it to five years.

Fogle, who became famous after losing weight on a diet that included sandwiches from the fast-food chain, agreed in August to a deal with prosecutors under which he would plead guilty to charges of child pornography and traveling for illicit paid sex with minors.

As Jared Fogle stood to learn his fate, Judge Tanya Walton Pratt recounted the story of a once morbidly obese college student who became a wealthy spokesman for sandwiches and healthy living.

"What a gift,” Pratt said, “to have such a professional windfall fall in your lap."

Now it’s gone, as is so much else — his marriage, his career, his reputation.

And his freedom.

Jared has already paid restitution to 14 of his victims for counseling and other things to help aide their recovery. Text messages found on Jared’s phone revealed that he paid at least $100 to have sex with a 16-year-old girl, on multiple occasions.

But something odd that was brought up during the closing arguments was that forensic psychiatrist John Bradford testified for the defense and said that it’s possible Jared’s dramatic weight loss lead him to pursue minors.

“Once he lost weight, it seemed as though in a short time he had hyper-sexuality. There are brain disorders that can be associated with sexual drive,” Bradford said.

Fogle has stated that he was sexually attracted to children as young as eight years old, the government said.

He will now not be able to work or volunteer with unsupervised minors, and will be able to see his own children only with agreement by all involved.

The judge noted that Fogle had a privileged childhood. His father is a family medicine doctor. About 12 family members and friends sat in the audience at the hearing. Fogle blew them a kiss and waved goodbye.

He then removed his suit jacket and was handcuffed behind his back by a U.S. Marshal who led him out of the courtroom.
