Chelsea Handler Planning to Leave E! Show at The End of The Year

Chelsea Handler and the E! Channel are going their separate ways. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the "Chelsea Lately" host will not renew her late night show contract after eight years with the network.

Handler's manager Irving Azoff said the talk show's host contract expires at the end of 2014. An E! spokesperson confirmed to THR  that Handler has nine months left in her contract, but the network did not release a statement about the show host's future with the network

"Chelsea intends to leave when her contract expires," Azoff told THR. "She hired me to figure out her life after E! We have at least seven suitors and many ideas."

There have been several rumors that Handler was unhappy with her relationship with the entertainment network. While on "The Howard Stern Show," Handler referred to the network as "a sad, sad place to live."

"They don't know what they're doing," Handler told Stern. "They have no ideas. It's a failure."

She is reportedly shopping the show to another network or digital service. Handler told Stern that she is eyeing Netflix as the show's next home. Azoff explained to THR that Hander already has offers for other projects in the works.

"Chelsea Lately" debuted on July 16, 2007 and has been produced by Handler's production company Borderline Amazing. Handler, the only female late-night host on TV, has been losing viewers over the years.

Handler's fifth book, "Uganda Be Kidding Me," was released earielr this month and has been on the New York Times bestseller list for more than a week.
