Norman Reedus Airs Side on Cancelled 'Silent Hill' Collaboration with 'Metal Gear Solid' Creator Hideo Kojima and 'Hellboy' Director Guillermo del Toro

The much anticipated horror video game 'Silent Hills' collaborated by 'Metal Gear Solid' creator Hideo Kojima, 'Hellboy' director Guillermo del Toro and 'The Walking Dead' Norman Reedus was cancelled earlier this year following publisher Konami's rumoured fallout with Kojima.

Norman Reedus, who is best loved for his role as Daryl Dixon in the TV series 'The Walking Dead', provided the voice and the face for the Silent Hills protagonist.

Reedus airs out his own disappointment over the events: "I'm super bummed that that happened back in Japan, but I have faith." Still, Reedus remains positive saying that their collaboration still needs to happen.

Reedus relays of his experience, "There were so many ideas and cool future happenings that were thrown around."

Because of the general reaction to the cancellation of Silent Hills, Reedus felt that  Kojima and del Toro had to still continue the project.

"'Holy b*lls. It has to happen. You need to do this.'"

Reedus was unsure of the amount of work that was yet to be completed for 'Silent Hills', but was aware that the team still has to complete the full story.

Reedus believes that 'Silent Hills' is like destiny that needs to and will happen. For this reason, he keeps the faith that another chance will come for his trio with Kojima and del Toro.

Reedus hails the genius of Kojima and del Toro and understandably so. The ninth instalment to the 'Silent Hill' series for Sony Playstation 4 was well-received as a free download Playable Teaser (PT demo) when released in 2014. The fans loved the 'Silent Hills' demo and many cited that it could easily rejuvinate the dead franchise.

Del Toro himself says that the experience had been great. "Some of the stuff that we were designing for 'Silent Hills' I've seen in games that came after, like 'The Last of Us', which makes me think we were not wrong, we were going in the right direction. The thing with Kojima and 'Silent Hills' is that I thought we would do a really remarkable game and really go for the jugular."

Despite reports that Kojima left Konami in October, Konami confirmed that plans to continue developing the 'Silent Hill' series will push through.
