Back in 2000, the world became aware of a rising young director after an incredibly complex breakout film, Christopher Nolan's "Memento," which created a heavily successful career for the director, writer and producer who would go on to make the best known superhero trilogy in the genre and get three Academy Award nominations - and it seems that's reason enough for the flick to get remade.
As the remake tendency keeps growing in Hollywood, it has found its latest victim in a movie that's not even 20 years old yet and it's quite perfect as it is already, Christopher Nolan's "Memento."
According to The Guardian, AMBI Pictures recently announced a remake of Christopher Nolan's "Memento," not long after acquiring the Exclusive Media Group Library, which not only contains the Guy Pearce-led film but also other cult favorites like "Cruel Intentions" and "Donnie Darko," so no-one's to say those aren't getting new versions as well.
"Memento is a masterpiece that leaves audiences guessing not just throughout the film, but long after as well, which is a testament to its daring approach," said Monika Bacardi, one of the two people that run AMBI, to The Hollywood Reporter about the Christopher Nolan "Memento" remake. "We intend to stay true to Christopher Nolan's vision and deliver a memorable movie that is every bit as edgy, iconic and award-worthy as the original."
While fans seem unconvinced at the prospect of a remake of Christopher Nolan's "Memento," Forbes Magazine sees the new project with different eyes, as AMBI Pictures, which was up until this announcement a new and completely unknown production company, is now on the map as millions of fans all over the world disagree quite a bit about their desire to remake this modern classic - so the announcement has put them on the map weeks after their inception (no pun intended).
So, unnecessary as the Christopher Nolan "Memento" remake may seem, it's now out there - could there be an actor who can pull off what Pearce did 15 years back?
