Brittany Murphy's Final Movie Receives Official Release Date

More than four years after her shocking death at age 32, Brittany Murphy is returning to the big screen.

According to the New York Daily News, Murphy's final film -- an action thriller called "Something Wicked" -- will premiere in theaters next month. The film's Facebook page made the announcement on Monday.

The movie will debut on Apr. 4 in Eugene, Oregon at the Regal Valley River Center 15, which is where the film was shot. The movie will open at the Cinema Pacific Film Festival on April 23. According to a press release from the film's production company, Merchant Films, the film will hit theaters nationwide shortly thereafter.

In the film, a young couple embarks on their wedding plans and secrets from their past collide. The Indie is described as a "hauntingly seductive thriller about obsession and young love gone wrong." It also stars "One Tree Hill's" Shantel VanSanten, "Pretty Little Liars" Julian Morris and "Supernatural" star James Patrick Stuart.

Murphy shot the seductive thriller the summer before her death. The actress died of pneumonia, anemia and a multiple drug intoxication in December 2009. Her husband, Simon Monjack, died five months later of pneumonia and anemia.

"It is an additional responsibility, you do want her performance to be the best it can be, because unfortunately it's her last performance," Joe Colleran, writer and producer, told the Daily News. "The first months of reviewing the footage and starting to put things together and then seeing her and hearing her voice, it's very emotional."

Murphy's notable film credits include "Clueless, "Girl, Interrupted," "Drop Dead Gorgeous," "8 Mile," "Just Married," "Uptown Girls," "Little Black Book" and "Sin City".

"Brittany pulled off one of the spookiest scenes in the movie," Colleran told USA Today in 2011. "There's an important scene where her character is unraveling and she spent a long time getting ready and focused and went for it. Personally, I think it's one of the best scenes of her career."
