Ever thought of making French fries and ketchup from the same plant? Impossible? Possible!
The longstanding British seed company Thompson and Morgan has created, "Tomtato", a new type of tomato and potato-yielding plant. This crossbreed may look like it's genetically engineered but it actually isn't at all. It is grafted by hand to create this 'unique double cropping feature' making it all natural and safe.
As stated on their website, the seed company took almost 15 years to perfect its another major horticultural concept. The crop has been created long many time long time ago but this is the first time that Thompson and Morgan has rolled out this new variety of crop to be made commercially available to the public.
Tomatoes come from the same plant family of potatoes and the two have the same number of chromosomes, the structures that hold DNA. This makes the both vegetables compatible with each other.
A gardener may harvest as much as 500 sweet, cherry-sized tomatoes per plant. Thompson and Morgan claimed that the produce is much tastier than most tomatoes sold in supermarkets.
Below the ground, the plant yields up to 2kg of flavorful white potatoes, perfect for making French fries, creamy mash and other dishes that include these garden-fresh tubers.
To ensure that the plants are in perfect condition before they're dispatched, the company uses specially designed containers and check the size, foliage, root system and moisture levels of Tomtato.
Tomtato is easy to grow. It is suitable with indoor or outdoor environments. Here are some tips to successfully grow Tomtato:
The company offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee or money back if you are not happy with your plants. To know about the prices, visit Thompson and Morgan's website.
