Ronda Rousey UFC 193 Knockout: MMA Fighter Nick Diaz Defends Her After Title Loss To Holly Holm

Many have jumped off the Ronda Rousey bandwagon following her second-round knockout loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193. Nick Diaz, though, isn’t one of them.

Following Rousey’s huge upset loss, her friend and sometimes training partner Nick Diaz weighed in Ronda Rousey’s loss on Twitter.

The 32-year-old doesn’t think 28-year-old Ronda Rousey‘s loss to Holly Holm is such a “big deal.” He thinks if not for a “simple mistake,” Ronda would have won. The MMA champ is sick of people ragging on his friend for losing.

While some of Rousey’s fellow fighters, including former foe Miesha Tate, opted to kick the former champion, Diaz opted to show support after the shocking upset by Holm (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC)

Diaz took to Twitter to question why Rousey is the brunt of so much criticism for the head-kick knockout loss. He said all “Rowdy” did was make a “simple mistake” due to poor game-planning. It led to the end of her nearly three-year title reign and first defeat of her career: "Sick of people making such a big deal it was a simple mistake you can't be running in on tall people someone in her camp left that out !" he tweeted.

Nick thinks someone else is responsible for the loss, because coaches should have advised Ronda not to get close to someone as tall as Holly.

He says he has a better plan – the one he used himself in his match against Anderson Silva in January 2015. Interestingly, Nick lost that fight. But he thinks if Ronda used the same technique, the judges would have decided in her favor.

He wrote: "If she had of dun like I did my last fight they wouldn't have robbed her the way they did me."

Diaz hasn’t competed since he fought Anderson Silva at UFC 183 in January. He’s currently serving a five-year suspension after he tested positive for marijuana, which marked the third violation of his MMA career.

The former UFC title challenger received tremendous public support following the suspension, including a strong rant from Rousey toward the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which has reportedly entered settlement discussions to reduce Diaz’s suspension.

Ronda is definitely hurting after her first loss. The insanely skilled MMA fighter has never lost a match before, but her undefeated title ended with a brutal kick to the neck.
