Prince William and Kate Set to Visit India in 2016

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, are set on a royal tour of India in the spring of 2016. William's parents have visited the country as well 24 years ago.

The plans have not been finalized yet according to sources. But this trip might not include the two children Prince George and Princess Charlotte. This is not the first time the couple went on an overseas trip without their children. In 2014, the royal couple also embarked on a three-day trip to New York.

The spokesperson of Kensington Palace said, "Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit India in the spring of 2016. The visit is being undertaken at the request of Her Majesty's Government and will be the first time The Duke and Duchess have visited the country."

Prince William's father had eight official royal tours to India and the most recent include New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Kochi last 2013.

Princess Diana also has visited the nation in 1992 where her most famous photo of a native Indian girl sitting on her lap was taken.

Other royals who are to visit India as well are Sophie Wessex, Prince Andrew and the Queen herself, who had last been to India last 1997.

The plan came after when the Queen invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for lunch at the Buckingham Palace last Friday. The prime minister is currently visiting UK to give a speech at the Wembley Stadium.

"It was a one-off to take George to Australia and New Zealand last year and it is looking highly unlikely they will take their children with them on their next tour," said the royal source.

"We are looking at either spring or autumn, but have not ruled out the possibility of them doing both," he also added.
