Chicken Soup For the Soul Hits Store Shelves With Several Food Products

Remember the book "Chicken Soup for the Soul?"

The series of heartwarming and tear-jerking inspirational reads took bookstores by storm nearly 20 years ago and topped the best-selling book charts. Now, the series is finally offering people a chance to get real soup from the company that claims it's, "Always there for you."

According to the Daily Meal, the series brand chicken soup has finally hit shelves and will be available at several supermarket chains, including Stop and Shop and Food City.

Created by Waldorf Astoria executive chef, John Doherty, the line includes chicken tortilla, beef barley, lentil, and of course, chicken noodle soup.

"For years, our readers and all our other fans have asked us to launch a food line, so this was a natural progression for us," said Bill Rouhana, Chicken Soup for the Soul Chairman and CEO, in a statement. "Our new food line captures the warmth and comfort of eating a meal that is not only made from the highest quality ingredients, but also served with love."

The Daily Meal reported that chicken broth, pasta sauces, gravies, marinara sauce, vodka sauce, soup toppers, and meal builders are also available in addition to the ready-to-eat chicken soup.

Yahoo Finance reported that "Chicken Soup for the Soul" also released brands of pet foods, including a new "Small Bites dog food that offers balanced nutrition for smaller adult dogs." The product's tagline, "because Food is more than just Nutrition; it's also about Comfort, Love and Appreciation," is inspired by pet and owner relationship stories.

"After years of reading our fans' and readers' stories about their pets, we recognize the unique relationship between pets and people," said Chris Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer of Chicken Soup for the Soul's pet division, in a statement. "We are committed to making an extremely high quality pet food that our customers can confidently serve to their pets so that they can focus on the other aspects of nourishment: love and appreciation, as we do."

Small Bites is the first of several new pet products from the series and is expected to be on shelves in the coming year.
