McDonald’s Gold Card Is A Thing And Rob Lowe Has It – Because Of Some Mad Egg McMuffin Connections [VIDEO]

For years, there has been a running legend of a supposed McDonald's gold card, an incredible item emitted by the biggest fast food chain in the world that allows the holder to eat for free at any of its locations - and Rob Lowe, besides being graced with ageless good looks, also has that beauty sitting on his wallet.

In Lowe's recent appearance at "Jimmy Kimmel Live," where he was promoting his new Fox comedy, "The Grinder" (and obviously making some jokes about a popular gay dating app), the actor dished on having been bestowed a McDonald's gold card, to everyone's amazement.

According to GQ, the reason the 51 year-old former Brat Packer got the McDonald's gold card was due to having some big connections in the chain, and no, it's not just because he's a big shot Hollywood actor but rather because he knows the person who invented the Egg McMuffin - and the chain's clown mascot, Ronald McDonald.

"The way I got this is my buddy in Santa Barbara's dad is one of the original McDonald's franchisees and he invented the Egg McMuffin," Lowe told Kimmel, showing off this rare and legendary item, according to People Magazine. "Which to me, is like the greatest human achievement."

AV Club reports that the person who made this incredible invention of American cuisine is Herb Peterson, and he happens to be a friend of Lowe's father - so when the opportunity came to bestow a McDonald's gold card on the star, Peterson lost no time.

Lowe's McDonald's gold card isn't actually good for every single Golden Arches restaurant across the world (booo), but he can certainly go up to the chain's locations in Santa Barbara and Goleta to get his pick at any item on the menu for free over the course of a year, which is pretty cool in itself - particularly now that McDonald's has launched the all-day breakfast, meaning he can gobble down on Egg McMuffins to honor his buddy at any time in the next year.
