The Big Bang Theory is now in the middle of its 9th season and someone is about to return from the dead. According to The Inquisitr, former guest star Bob Newhart who played the role of Professor Proton also known as Arthur Jeffries is about to make his return.
Professor Proton was a character on a children's show that Sheldon (played by Jim Parsons) and Leonard (played by Johnny Galecki) loved when they were growing up. He has always been encouraging kids to love science and Sheldon has been so attached to him that he even considered him as his best friend.
There was an episode back in the past season of the show that Sheldon invited him over to do the things he used to do on TV. And since then, he became even closer to the character. But in the storyline after his appearance, another episode indicated that Professor Proton had passed away and it deeply saddened Sheldon.
Newhart will grace the show once again on the December 17 episode of the sitcom and this time, he would play as a ghost that would help Sheldon determine and analyze his feelings, as well as help him make a huge decision. The network made this announcement on Wednesday and the cast is so excited to have Newhart on the show again.
Bob Newhart is a comedy legend in Hollywood and despite being 86 years old now, he can still work and make people laugh. He is known for his shows back in the 70s called The Bob Newhart Show and also another one called Newhart, which he did from 1982 to 1990. His guest appearance on The Big Bang Theory made him win his very first Emmy.
As for the update of the filming of his current guesting for TBBT, Variety said it hasn't been shot.
