‘Lego Batman Movie’ Casts Mariah Carey As Gotham Mayor – Who Else Joins Will Arnett’s Caped Crusader?

With the big box office and critical success the Chris Pratt-led "The Lego Movie" last year, the company's expanding further with their films, including how Will Arnett will reprise his role as the Caped Crusader from the 2014 animated sensation - so who else is joining the "Lego Batman Movie" cast?

In the most recent "Lego Batman Movie" cast news, it was first reported that singer and actress Mariah Carey had been hired as a gender-switched version of Commissioner James Gordon, but it seems the whole thing was a misunderstanding and in fact she'll be taking on another role, as the mayor of Gotham City.

Deadline was the first to report that Carey had joined the "Lego Batman Movie" cast, mistakenly saying that she would be taking on the role of Commissioner Gordon, which has been played in the past by a number of actors, including Gary Oldman in Christopher Nolan's trilogy and most recently Ben McKenzie in "Gotham."

As The Guardian reports, the "Hero" songstress and occasional actress joins an all-star "Lego Batman Movie" cast, which also includes "Harry Potter" actor and Oscar nominee Ralph Fiennes as Alfred, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Michael Cera as Robin and Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, with no news of who will be playing Gordon yet.

According to Comic Book Resources, it's not just the "Lego Batman Movie" cast that looks impressive, the crew's more than solid as well, with Chris McKay (who's worked in "Robot Chicken" and edited "The Lego Movie") called into direct, from a screenplay written by Seth Grahame-Smith, the author of "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" as well as its screenplay and the script for Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows" starring Johnny Depp and Eva Green.

The "Lego Batman Movie" will be the second installment of a new Lego big screen franchise, following up last year's success story and ahead of a "Ninjago" movie - and with the impressive "Lego Batman Movie" cast so far, no doubt it'll be amazing!
