Tag Heuer, the luxury watch brand has now delved into the technological world, releasing their smart watch alongside the lieu of smart watch companies with their numerous models out already.
Despite Tag Heuer releasing their smart watch quiet late in the market, they believe that they can offer something new. Jean-Claude Biver, Tag Heuer CEO, believes that "The Connected," is the only smart watch that embodies luxury.
"We are going to do a watch, not a computer, even if there is a computer inside, it's a watch that will [last] for eternity." Biver said at the Connected's New York City launch event.
The watch boasts a 46 mm watch case, larger than Apple's smart watch, which is 42 mm and 38 mm. Tag Heuer's The Connected is a little thick just like that of Huwaei's smart watch but much more comfortable than LG's Urbane 2.
As of right now, Tag Heuer admits that their smart watch line is exclusively for men, but they plan to create a woman's Tag Heuer smartwatch.
The Connected is built with titanium grade 2, which makes the watch interestingly light on the wrist. It has one button on the side that when clicked will bring the user to the android interface.
Tag Heuer is selling The Connected with a default black rubber band, but it comes in six more different colors. The company does plan to create The Connected with a leather band.
The smartwatch has a very bright led back screen light for the reason that the smart watch's display can be seen despite being hit by direct sunlight. The battery life of the smart watch is a full day.
The limitations of The Connected is the fact that it is not customizable and that takes a lot from the fact that most smart watches out in the market are highly customizable.
Despite this, Tag Heuer's The Connected does show some promise because according to the company, The Connected is the perfect child of Silicon Valley and Swiss Watch industry.
