Simon Cowell is officially a daddy.
People magazine reported that Cowell's girlfriend, Lauren Silverman, gave birth to the couple's first son at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City on Valentine's Day. The newborn was delivered at 5:45 p.m. and weighed 6 lbs., 7 oz.
"Very happy to say Eric was born ... Healthy and handsome," Cowell Tweeted immediately after the birth. "Lauren in great shape. Thanks for all of your kind messages. Named after my dad."
The 54-year-old music mogul named his son after his father, Eric Selig Phillip Cowell, who passed away of a heart attack in 1999, the Huffington Post reported.
Cowell reportedly left his seat at the auditions for "Britain's Got Talent" beside fellow judges David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden empty, to jet over to New York and be by Silverman's side.
"Lauren is doing great. Her parents are there, along with Simon of course," a source told People. "They are so excited. Everyone is thrilled. They couldn't be happier. The baby is gorgeous."
The couple announced that they were expecting a child together in July. Silverman was married to Cowell's close friend, Andrew Silverman, whom she has an 8-year-old son with.
"It was kind of uncomfortable. You know, the situation. But these things happen and everything is kind of calm now and I'm happy," Cowell said during an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
Cowell celebrity friends tweeted the new father congratulations, some even joking about the newborn name.
Huge congratulations to @SimonCowell and Lauren Silverman on the birth of their son. They have named him David Sinitta Louis-Walsh Cowell.
