The HBO series "Game of Thrones" has given a new meaning to all things epic, becoming one of the central focus points of pop culture right now with many people getting together to watch episodes of the show every year - and now, the original author teases what might be George R. R. Martin's "GoT" plans.
Time and time again, George R. R. Martin's "GoT" stand has been to tell fans that nobody will "win" power in Westeros, but rather that by the time his "Song of Ice and Fire" books end, all characters will have died - but now, he's singing a different and "bittersweet" tune.
According to Cinema Blend, the author recently made an appearance at Northwestern University to talk about his work, and of course he was asked what was ahead for the show based on his novels - and he dished a little on George R. R. Martin's "GoT" future.
"People ask me how Game of Thrones is gonna end, and I'm not gonna tell them. But I always say to expect something bittersweet in the end," went the recent George R. R. Martin "GoT" comments, Yahoo! News reports. "I think you need to have some hope. We all yearn for happy endings in a sense. Myself, I'm attracted to the bittersweet ending."
Of course, there could be endless meanings to what the 67 year-old writer may have meant with that, but now fans can know around the lines of what to expect when it's time for audiences to say goodbye to Westeros.
The Wrap reports that the author had plenty more to say about the show, including how he never expected the series to catch up with his books as quickly as it did, and as George R. R. Martin's HBO comments were made, fans eagerly await the next of his books, "Winds of Winter."
