Josh Duhamel Goes On A Crime Spree in 'Lost in the Sun' Drama

Josh Duhamel known for his ever romantic and swooning roles in NBC's Las Vegas, a protagonist in Transformers and New Year's Eve, will be seen leading a string of robberies in a new drama movie Lost in the Sun, set for release this week. This new change in profile, from a romantic lead, is a new change for Duhamel and one that he is excited about.

Duhamel will play John, a small time crook and ex-convict going around the state in a string of robberies with a newly orphaned teenager he brought alongside named Louis. The movie is directed and written by Trey Nelson.

This movie is quite different from his portfolio, since it's definitely not romantic. So in turn, he gets to shed his romantic bones.

The former Transformers star muses that this time he wanted to do something that challenged him, something different. He tells EW that the script written by Director Trey Nelson was simple and honest. "There were no fancy trailers, there were no fancy craft service" he says.

Louis, played by Josh Wiggins, was partly chosen by Duhamel to play the part. When they held the auditions, he found Wiggins right for the job - someone not too childish and not too mature.

One thing he did to make the film's character authentic was putting on fake teeth. He placed fake caps to make his teeth authentically unclean and ruined. What he didn't count on was his mouth didn't readily accept it and left him with cuts.

The film was shot in the middle of Texas, where there is only sun and cows. Lost in the Sun is Duhamel's passion project and after years of creating it, the movie is out for release this week in theaters on November 6, he tells EW in an exclusive interview

Lost in the Sun is also available on VOD and iTunes.
