Macy’s Parade Gets Mariah Carey Performance, Who Joins Mimi In 2015 Thanksgiving Line-Up!

With Halloween behind us and 2015 reaching its end, it's time for some of the biggest holiday traditions in the world and that includes Macy's parade in New York City, a tradition for Thanksgiving and one of the unofficial ways to jumpstart Christmas - and this year, one of the biggest divas in the music industry is headlining the performances!

Back in the 1920s, the employees of the famous New York City department store were first-generation immigrants mostly from Europe, and they started the tradition of the Macy's parade to honor their new homeland the way they had celebrated holidays in their original countries; now, nearly a century on, it's the second-oldest Thanksgiving parade in America after the Dunkin Donuts one in Philadelphia.

According to Pop Crush, it'll be Mariah Carey, the 90s pop superstar fresh out of a major comeback with a Vegas residency and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, who will be headlining the performances at this year's Macy's parade.

Billboard reports that aside from Mimi, two "American Idol" alums will be joining Mimi for the festivities, as season 6 winner Jordin Sparks and season 5 finalist Chris Daughtry (along with his band, Daughtry) will also be performing on the Macy's parade this year.

The star-studded affair will also feature Pat Benatar, "Dancing with the Stars" contestant Andy Grammer and Questlove and The Muppets of Sesame Street, among others who will be joining the balloons for this year's Macy's parade.

According to AJC, even Broadway will be getting some spotlight on the grand New York City event, as the casts of shows like the recently-released "School of Rock" and even Gloria Estefan's "On Your Feet" will be prominently featured, besides a number of other shows.

To follow tradition, this year you can watch the Macy's parade on "The Today Show" on NBC next Thanksgiving morning, starting at 9am.
