Carnivores Versus Vegetarians: Who's More at Risk

The decision by the World Health Organization to categorize ham, sausages and bacon alongside arsenic, asbestos and cigarettes as major carcinogens is more confusing for being so readily hypothetical. If proven correct then, by definition, carnivores would have a higher chance of cancer than vegetarians, just as smokers are compared to non-smokers. They do not.

This inaccuracy of an "expert" opinion on dietary matters is something to be taken seriously, particularly for the millions of people with type 2 diabetes for whom the standard nutritional suggestion over the last 33 years contradictory combines the difficulties of managing their condition.

To make it clear, diabetes, as we all know, is due to the inadequate insulin responsible for the uptake of sugar in the blood into the cells and which as a result stays in the circulation, causing hyperglycemia or an increase in the blood sugar level.  Major dietary sources of glucose are the carbohydrates in bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and pulses, thus people are advised to restrict the amounts consumed in favor of the other major source of calories, meat and dairy products.

Then in 1982, the British Diabetic Association reversed this reasonable and clinically productive advice on the reasons that the saturated fats in meat and dairy products were harmfully causing people to have narrowed arteries, with their attendant complications of heart attacks and poor circulation to which diabetics are particularly susceptible.  So, with all those newly diagnosed with diabetes usually encouraged including a big portion of carbohydrates with every meal. This has not decreased their risk of vascular complications but made it more difficult to control glucose levels and lose weight.

In contrary, as previously described, those who choose not to follow the current belief and go back to the previously accepted though currently execrated low carb diet can. Many studies now confirm, certainly expected a visible improvement in, or even solve their diabetic dilemmas.
