Movember 2015: November Is Men’s Health Month, Learn More About No-Shave November – And What You Can Do To Help!

Just as October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, November takes a turn towards the other gender, with an ongoing annual campaign to raise awareness about men's health issues including prostate cancer and even depression in men - find out more about Movember 2015!

This year marks the 16th year of "Movember" as a widely known term, as the word's in fact a portmanteau between the words November and Mustache, as originally the idea was for men to grow 'staches during the second-to-last month of the year to raise awareness about men's health issues - but at this point, Movember 2015 is much bigger.

In all, the idea of Movember is for men to grow a mustache for the entire month so that, when they're asked what's up with the odd facial hair, they speak out about the cause and how it's a way to raise awareness - and over the past few years, the idea has grown rapidly.

According to Queerty, one of the new facets of Movember 2015 comes from BuzzFeed's team of Try Guys (you know, the ones whose jobs are just to try stuff out, from foods from around the globe to Halloween outfits) is drawing the line farther away from facial hair for a good cause - they actually got prostate exams and filmed it.

Fox43 reports that's not the only new Movember 2015 event, as the growing popularity of this charity movement has seen that many men are aware of it, with massive shaving events such as the one in Pennsylvania's Spring Garden Township, where a local restaurant held something of a shave-off for about 20 men to grow their facial hair, planning a contest of the best beard at the end of the month - and donating to the cause in the meantime.

According to NHL, 25 hockey teams and 369 players in total were up for the last edition of this awareness-raising charity, so Movember 2015 is expected to see even further growth.
