World War Z 2 - Sequel Happening with New Screenwriter Dennis Kelly

There have been talks after the release of World War Z in 2013 that there could be a sequel. Alongside the release of the confirmation of a sequel in May, the full making is now confirmed with the latest addition to the Brad Pitt team. Dennis Kelly, creator of "Utopia", has joined the creation of the zombie filled sequel.

Before Kelly was enlisted however, there were rifts when it comes to J.A Bayona's involvement in the film. There were talks that Bayona will be directing a follow up to the Jurassic World movie. Though Bayona has a holding deal with World War Z 2, the Jurassic World follow-up helped push Paramount to get a new script going, says Hollywood Reporter.

Brad Pitt is producing the sequel with Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Ian Bryce and David Ellison. At the same time, Pitt will be returning to the venture and joining the sequel as the star.

The first movie, World War Z, was directed by Marc Foster and released in 2013. It became a box office hit. The film starred Brad Pitt and was based on the novel by Max Brooks. Brad Pitt played Gerry Lane, a former United Nations investigator who traveled the world to stop a zombie pandemic. With the sequel coming up, what does the undead have in store for Brad Pitt and the world? Would it have the usual post-zombie apocalypse story of zombies resisting the vaccine? Or would it have a mutated genetic anomaly? Or would the star become a zombie himself? It's not yet clear.

Kelly is known for his work in Utopia, a Channel 4 television series featuring a small group of people who have in their possession a manuscript called The Utopia Experiments which was rumored to predict worldly disasters.

World War Z 2 is set to be released on June 9, 2017.
