Alanis Morissette, The Inspiration For Taylor Swift, Katy Perry And The Rest

Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill" has been the benchmark for a whole lot of great pop culture than many naysayers would like to acknowledge.  After the old jokes casted about the lyrics of "Ironic".

In the last 20 years the Canadian rocker's 1995 album clocked up 15 million US sales after it g0t rereleased with bonus material on Friday.

Alanis became an inspiration for numerous modern pop songwriters with the unwavering honesty of the songs like "You Oughta Know" and "Hand in My Pocket," Morissette-mania is obvious in wider circles.

David Foster Wallace an author of "Infinite Jest" was also a proud fan - something that's represents by Jason Segel playing him in the new movie "The End of the Tour."

Without Alanis, a big part of modern pop culture wouldn't exist in the way we know it now. All music fans really owe Alanis something.

Here are presently several of the ways she's a mother of invention.

  • Katy Perry's the "Teenage Dream" singer frequently trumpets her unabashed Alanis-adoration. In her 2012 movie she talked about how "Jagged Little Pill" inspired her.
  • On Taylor Swift's "1989" tour in August she added Morissette to the vast roll call of guests wherein the Canadian rocked out with a version of "You Oughta Know". Switf still wears Morissette's influence literally on her sleeve for years.
  • The "Complicated" singer, Avril Lavigne, also demonstrated her love by duetting with Morissette on a adaptation of "Ironic" in 2005. "She was, like, this chick who was rocking out, just kind of speaking her mind, and I thought she was really genuine," remembered Lavigne in 2005.
  • Radiohead worked on songs such as "Paranoid Android","Karma Police" and "OK Computer" together with Alanis. The last song went on to sell millions and win them a Grammy.
  • The Foo Fighters should be inspired by Alanis too, because it was Alanis who first discovered the drumming talents of Taylor Hawkins that when Foo Fighters were left without a drummer in 1997, Hawkins took the position.
