Subway Menu: Company Adding New Jalapeño Cheese Bread Early Next Year

Attention sandwich-lovers, the fast food chain has added a new bread to their lineup.

According to the Huffington Post, Subway is releasing a new Jalapeño cheese bread on Jan. 1. An earlier product of the bread was introduced six years and that fast food chain has been tweaking the recipe for the limit time re-release.

"We love to treat our customers to new versatile flavors that complement the submarine sandwiches on our menu, hot or cold," said Mark Christiano, baking specialist for the Subway brand. "The mouth-watering jalapeno cheddar flavor profile serves as the perfect pairing to any of our sandwiches."

The bread will be available nationwide for a six to eight weeks, during that time, the fast food chain will determine whether to make the reformulated bread a permanent item on the menu.

"Our new jalapeño cheese bread is our answer to requests for bread that is packed with bold flavor," Christiano said. "We are always looking to keep up with our customers' evolving tastes."

Subway currently offers nine flavors of bread, including garlic bread, which was introduced in September, but the chain is not the first to offer the jalapeño-cheese flavor combination. Blimpie offers their customers a jalapeño cheddar bread and eatery Au Bon Pain has a jalapeño double cheddar bagel.

The Huffington Post reported fast food chain Wendy's is testing a burger, which include a cheddar jalapeño bun.

In November, Subway added two sandwiches to its Fiery Footlong Collection which used the chain's new creamy Sriracha sauce. The Sriracha Chicken Melt and Sriracha Steak Melt combine grilled chicken or steak with pepper Jack cheese, creamy Sriracha sauce, and a choice of vegetables and toppings.

"The intense blend of chile peppers is a fiery jolt of heat that will surely wake up your taste buds," brand executive chef, Chris Martone, said in a statement. "We developed a product that's not shy on flavor and will add a whole new dimension to any of our fans favorite subs, including breakfast sandwiches."

The Fiery Footlong Collection already includes a Buffalo Chicken sandwich and a Turkey Jalapeño Melt.
