Edward Meechum has left the Underwoods in Washington DC for a cool new job in Gotham City!
According to TVLine, 'House of Cards' actor Nathan Darrow has just been cast as Victor Fries in the second season of 'Gotham.' The new villain will eventually become one of Batman's greatest adversaries, Mr. Freeze.
But will it be a quick appearance, like the Dollmaker in the first season? 'Gotham' executive producer John Stephens assured TVLine that the future Mr. Freeze will appear in more than one episode.
"The first time we see Freeze is in [the Nov. 30 episode], and then we're going to be telling a heavy Freeze story in Episodes 12 and 13," Stephens said.
Mr. Freeze is one of the most famous Batman villains due to his appearance in 'Batman and Robin,' where he was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The 'Gotham' version of Mr. Freeze will be more intent on saving a loved one, as suggested by the character description.
"Though ferociously smart and eminently capable in his work as one of Gotham's preeminent cryogenics engineers, Victor struggles to make meaningful connections with others. The one exception is his wife, Nora (casting TBA), who has tragically fallen ill with a terminal disease. Victor's love for Nora knows no bounds, so as her condition worsens, he goes to extreme measures to figure out a way to freeze her before she dies. This harrowing journey leads to his transformation into the legendary DC villain, Mr. Freeze."
In addition to playing the Underwoods' bodyguard Edward Meechum in 'House of Cards,' Nathan Darrow has also appeared in several stage plays. He has portrayed Ben Farrell in 'Kill Me Like You Mean It' at New York City's 4th Street Theatre and has been in the recent production of 'Five Mile Lake' at Princeton's McCarter Theatre.
