'Games of Thrones' Video Game Release Date: TellTale Announces New Game For Series

Coming next winter to a game store near you is "Games of Thrones" the video game.

According to The Globe and Mail, TellTale Games, the gaming publisher behind games such as "The Walking Dead" and "A Wolf Among Us" has recently signed a multi-year deal with HBO to publish games based on the popular network series "The Game of Thrones".

"Since the very beginning, Telltale's goal has been to work alongside the most talented and respected forces in entertainment, bringing their worlds to the interactive space as no other game studio can," Dan Connors, co-founder and CEO of Telltale Games, wrote in a press release.

According to the press release, "The Game of Thrones," which is based on the book "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martin, will be formatted for home computers, PC/Mac, and mobile devices.

"Working with HBO to develop a new game series based on 'Game of Thrones' is a natural fit for our studio," the press release stated. "This partnership will create an experience that will captivate the huge, global Game of Thrones audience. It will put them in control of the epic stories of warfare, intrigue, violence and revenge that we know and love."

Created by David Benioff and D.B Weiss for television, the Emmy Award-winning television program has won over a large audience with their mix of politics, war, magic, sex and violence. The show chronicles the events and battles in the fictional lands of Westeros and Essos.

The video game is scheduled to be released sometime in 2014. The announcement was made through the publishing company's twitter site.
