"Family Guy" fans can rest a bit easier, it seems like Brian the dog will be making a comeback.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Fox is making plans to bring back the outspoken canine on Dec. 15. After more than 11 seasons of laughing along with the Griffin family, Brian this dog was hit by a car and died, in an earlier episode.
The episode titled, "Christmas Guy," involves Stewie devising "a master plan to get the one and only thing he wants for Christmas." EW adds that Brian's character will make several appearances throughout the season.
After the Fox animated comedy killed Brian's character, close to 130,000 fans signed a Change.org petition to bring back the beloved furry friend.
"The writers of family guy didn't just kill off one of their creations, they killed off the dog who has lived in our homes for the last 15 years," the online petition reads. "They killed the dog we all have come to love. They killed America's dog!"
The petition, which is now closed, said Brian Griffin was an important part of the show and are reportedly pleading with creator Seth MacFarlane and Fox Broadcasting stating that a replacement dog is not going to make the cut.
"'Family Guy' and Fox Broadcasting will lose viewers if Brian Griffin is not brought back to the show," the petition stated.
MacFarlane told E! News that Brian's death was pitched in the writers room and producers seem to like the idea.
"It seemed more in the realm of reality that a dog would get hit by a car, than if one of the kids died," MacFarlane said. "As much as we love Brian, and as much as everyone loves their pets, we felt it would be more traumatic to lose one of the kids, rather than the family pet."
