'Harry Potter's' Diagon Alley Flies to Ithaca, New York for Halloween

Ithaca, New York is going for a magical celebration this Halloween. In October 31, several businesses in Ithaca, NY will transform Press Bay Alley into a "Harry Potter" Diagon Alley- inspired street or their Wizarding Weekend, reports MTV.

Businesses participating include Bramble Herb and Spice Store, Modern Cottege Industry, and even Ithaca Generator, which according Press Connect, is a non-profit. It's not only the stores though. Shopkeepers inside the stores will also be in their full wizards and witches attire for the five-hour event.

As for the customers, they are encouraged to be there donning their best magical costumes for a costume contest. There will reportedly be awards for best wizard and best "muggle" costumes.

Ithaca's "Wizarding Weekend" will also feature crafts circus demonstrations and a trick or treat program for kids 12 and under, according to comicbook.com.

Circus Culture, a circus school in Ithaca, will be the one providing a Weasley's Wizard Wheezes-inspired performance. Boxy Bikes will also be making an electric broomstick re-enactment reminiscent of a Quidditch match.

As for food and drinks, there's no need to worry. The event will provide several food trucks such as Star Truck, Silo Truck and College Town Crepes at the Diagon Alley in New York, according to The Inquisitr.

There may be no butterbeer, but fans will surely love the FREE hot cider from Press Café, to be served all day.

The event's organizer, a chocolate store called Life's So Sweet Chocolates, called out for volunteers with the love for "Harry Potter" to make the magical event on the weekend possible. The Saturday Diagon Alley event will be made possible with the hard work of over 2,400 "Harry Potter" fans.

The world of "Harry Potter" has been imitated in theme parks around the world, but what's unique about the upcoming Diagon Alley Halloween event at the Wizarding Weekend is that it's FREE for everyone.

Only an approximate number of 2,800 persons were sent official Facebook invites, but those who confirmed attendance has now reached over 4,000 - and counting.

The Diagon Alley New York event will be held from 1 PM to 6 PM on Saturday.
