British Olympic diver Tom Daley opened up about being gay.
The 19-year-old, who won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games, posted a video on YouTube Monday opening up about his relationship with a man and his fascination with girls.
"Come spring this year my life changed massively when I met someone and they made me feel so happy, so safe and everything just feels great and that someone is a guy," Daley said. "Of course I still fancy girls but right now I'm dating a guy and I couldn't be happier."
In the five-minute clip, five-minute video clip, Delay said he made the announcement in hopes of putting an end to all the rumors and speculation. Daley said he became angry and frustrated after being misquoted in an interview.
"[Feeling] emotions that I've never felt before when reading something about myself, and for me honesty is something that I really do believe in," he said. "I've been dating girls and I've never really had a serious relationship to talk about and now I feel kind of ready to talk about my relationships."
Daley, whose father Robert died of brain cancer at 40 just over a year before the Olympics, said his family had mixed feelings about him talking about his sexuality.
"My Dad always said to me, 'As long as you're happy, I'm happy'. Right now, I couldn't be happier," Daley said. "Mum has been so supportive and all my friends and family that I've told have been so supportive. It's been great. But I told the rest my family today and, well, let's just say they had mixed opinions."
Daley posted the link to the video to his 2.4 million Twitter followers.
"Got something I need to say ... not been an easy decision to make. Hope you can support me," Daley Tweeted.
At the age of 15, Daley won the 10-meter platform gold at the 2009 world championships and took the bronze at the London Olympics, the same year. The driver said he wanted to win gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
