Willie Nelson Bus Crash Hospitalizes 3 Band Members; Singer Cancels Tour Dates

Willie Nelson cancelled his current tour after three of his band members were injured after the band's tour bus crashed on Saturday in Texas.

Band members, Billie English, Thomas Hawkins and Paul English, were hospitalized, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, after one member reportedly broke his hip and the others suffered injuries in the crash on highway I-30 outside of Sulphur Springs, Texas.

Reuters reported the members are expected to make a full recovery. The two other band members on the bus and the bus driver were not injured.

"No one suffered serious injuries. Paul English injured his ankle, Billy English suffered a bruised hip and crew member Tom Hawkins has a cracked rib," Nelson's website said. "The other family members on the bus are sore but everyone is expected to recover fully."

According to NBC News, the 80-year-old singer was not on board when the bus crashed into a bridge at about 3:30 a.m. A spokeswoman with Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed icy conditions and strong winds were to blame for the accident.

"The driver stated that he had been driving through heavy, heavy rains and high winds and was having a difficult time driving," said Trooper Sylvia Jennings. "I guess at some point he lost control, went off the road and hit one of the columns of one of the overpasses."

The singer-songwriter and his band were scheduled to perform at the Horseshoe Casino in Tunica, Miss., Saturday night, but the concert has been postponed. Nelson also postponed his next four dates, through the end of the month, in cities including Robinsonville and Jackson, Miss.; Fayetteville, Ark.; and Lafayette, La.

"This year's Willie Nelson tour has been suspended indefinitely," Nelson's reps wrote. "We will post more when it becomes available."

The tour will resume as scheduled next month, according to the site and the band's first performance is scheduled for Dec. 10 in Las Vegas.
