Rita Ora was not born with a silver spoon. In fact, she was taken into a care home as a baby when her family arrived in the UK as refugees. Detailing about her life from rags to riches, The Sun spilled some of her dramatic experiences, which was detailed in a new book, 'Hot Right Now.'
Rita was only one year old when her parents fled Kosovo to escape the country before war broke out in the former Yugoslavia. But Rita and her sister Elena were sent to a care home while their status was evaluated. The siblings spent few months in the home while their parents planned to get them out from there.
At the age of 14, Rita landed her first music production deal, but found herself partying wild with friends. "Rita would drink with everyone. She loves to party. We were that kind of a year group. We had a lot of fun both in and out of school. I remember Rita was always dancing," one of her classmate said.
It was the rebellious stage of Rita and eventually fell in love for the first time with her classmate Jamie Blackley.
As she tried to reach the stardom, Rita suddenly left school and enrolled herself at the British Academy Of New Music, on a music performance course back in 2007. But both of her parents were disappointed with her decision as they want her to return to college and finish her degree.
Rita still followed her dream and went on to St Charles Catholic Sixth Form College, Ladbroke Grove, to do performing arts and met James Falconer, a teacher, whom she then impressed with her voice. But got disappointed right away when she began missing lessons.
By the time he decided to talk to Rita to discuss why she's been missing classes he was completely stunned by her answer, "I've been in New York, meeting Jay Z. He wants to sign me."
Hot Right Now: The Definitive Biography of Rita Ora by Douglas Wight & Jennifer Wiley will be published on October 29.
