Daniel Craig ‘Spectre’: James Bond Actor Reminds Us Superspy Is ‘Misogynist’ And Says 007’s ‘Lucky’ To Have Monica Bellucci As Bond Girl

In the wake of his latest film in the James Bond franchise, Daniel Craig's "Spectre," the actor who has been playing the iconic MI6 fictional spy since "Casino Royale" wants to remind everyone that the character made famous by Sean Connery is a bit of a jerk and totally not a role model.

As Daniel Craig's "Spectre" is about to have its official release date in the UK this week, the actor wants to set the record straight about Bond as a character, making sure everyone's on the same page as him when it comes to exactly what kind of man 007 is.

"Let's not forget that he's actually a misogynist," said the actor on Daniel Craig's "Spectre" work to Red Bulletin in a recently published interview. "A lot of women are drawn to him chiefly because he embodies a certain kind of danger and never sticks around for too long."

For years, feminists have attacked the objectification of women in James Bond movies, so it's certainly refreshing to see one of the actors playing the role standing up against the character's practices as Daniel Craig's "Spectre" nears its premiere.

According to The Verge, that wasn't the only time the actor spoke against previous showings of the character, as the person holding this Daniel Craig "Spectre" interview referred to Bond being paired up to an "older woman" as a Bond girl in this film, played by Monica Bellucci, and the actor quickly corrected him to say it was a woman "his own age," saying that the producers were "lucky" the Italian megastar wanted to be part of the film.

Last month, the actor spoke in similar terms about the character to Esquire, saying he hoped his own portrayal of the role wasn't "as sexist and misogynist" as previous incarnations, but that he was proud the character had been paired with strong women in the past movies to balance out his personality.

Daniel Craig's "Spectre" will be released in the U.S. on November 6.
