Ed Sheeran: Artist Receives Honorary Doctorate Degree

Ed Sheeran is another another name added to the list of Smartest Celebrities. Ed Sheeran is not only a musician, singer and song-writer. He is now officially a gentleman scholar. 

Previously, Ed Sheeran reportedly received an honorary degree from the University Campus Suffolk for his outsanding contribution to music. According to People, he received the Doctorate Honor by donning the traditional graduation garments, wearing the dark cap and the very colorful gown, but it doesn't mean to say that he left out his own rocking wearable style. He pulled the whole look off even with his tattoos and a pair of Converse shoes. On October 19, 2015, Ed Sheeran officially announced to the world through his Instagram "I graduated today, I am now officially Dr. Sheeran."

Ed Sheeran grew up in Framlingham, Suffolk and started learning music at the age of four by singing in a local church choir, learning the guitar and writing songs when he was in high school. He left school at the age of 16 to pursue a career in music. In a statement to the Press Association at the university upon receiving the award, he said "I think we should encourage young kids not to feel pressure. I think if you don't know what you want to do, hold off for a couple years, go travel and find yourself." He added that it was odd to receive such an award but felt grateful.

The newly received Doctorate Degree is just one of the many highlights of his 2015 journey. In 2015, his second album "X" (read as Multiply) and won the Brit Award for British Album of the Year. Sheeran also received the Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year in 2015. He is set to travel to Milan to co-host the MTV Europe Music Awards.
