'Doctor Strange' Update: Rachel McAdams Role Finally Revealed? Will She Play Night Nurse?

Remember when everyone couldn't stop talking about Rachel McAdams being cast as the female lead in the Marvel flick 'Doctor Strange?' It seemed like everyone agreed that the 'Notebook' star would portray Stephen Strange's love interest Clea in the film and forgot about the excitement for a while.

However, it looks like Rachel McAdams might actually portray a completely different character in 'Doctor Strange,' and it's a character that has been prepared for the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a long time!

According to Latino-Review, a source has revealed that Rachel McAdams could play Christine Palmer, a night-shift nurse featured in the Marvel comic book 'Night Nurse.'

The rumor immediately brought up previous reports where 'Daredevil' showrunner Steven DeKnight confirmed that they had to change the name of Rosario Dawson's character because Marvel had plans for the Night Nurse to appear in a large MCU film. The report led to speculations that Linda Carter, the primary Night Nurse, will be introduced in 'Doctor Strange.'

But why will Rachel McAdams play Christine Palmer and not the main Night Nurse Linda Carter? After all, Christine Palmer only had a minor role in the 'Night Nurse' comic book, where she was only portrayed as the protagonist in Issue #4. The comic book series usually followed Linda Carter, who worked closely with Doctor Strange in several issues.

According to Latino-Review, the studio might be banking on Christine Palmer's experience as a surgical assistant who could help Stephen Strange in his operations.

Another reason why Christine Palmer is an odd choice is the characters connections to 'X-Men' mutants Storm and Nightcrawler. Meanwhile, some fans still believe that Rachel McAdams will portray Linda Carter and the Christine Palmer rumor has been brought to distract people from the truth.

Will Rachel McAdams play the Night Nurse in 'Doctor Strange?' Find out when the film premieres on November 4, 2016.
